The Independence Fund
About the independence fund
The Independence Fund was Established in 2007, and are committed to empowering our nation’s catastrophically wounded, injured, or ill Veterans, helping them to overcome the physical, mental, and emotional wounds sustained in service. They are dedicated to improving the lives of both Veterans and their families.
Through a range of programs including Mobility, Caregiver and Family Support, Advocacy, Casework, Operation Resilience, Independence@Home, and more, The Independence Fund strives to bridge the gap and offer comprehensive support.
Kappa Alpha Order partners with The Independence fund to find a Veteran that deserves a Track Chair. A Track Chair is an all-terrain wheelchair that enables these Veterans to get outdoors without having to worry about their wheelchair getting stuck in the mud.
Kappa alpha order involvement
The Independence Fund has been the Kappa Alpha Order national philanthropy partner since 2016. In that time, Kappa Alpha Order chapters have raised over $2,000,000 to aid The Independence Fund in helping disabled Veterans regain their mobility by presenting them with Track Chairs. Our chapter looks to better help this cause to support disabled Veterans through different philanthropy events. These events include our annual golf tournament, Techwoodstock Philanthropy Week, Wieners for Wheelchairs, and many more.
Donate to the independence fund
You can donate to the Kappa Alpha Order - Georgia Tech page on the Independence Fund’s website here. Anything donated goes straight to our chapter goal of presenting a Veteran with a trach chair this fall. If you would like to learn more about the Independence Fund, or to find other ways to help KA Georgia Tech reach our philanthropy goal, please reach out to Jackson Clifton (text, email).
